Joe Fetas Greek Village: Milked Fish food reviews

Joe fetas has been a institution in north st.catharines for decades but over the pass little while there has been things going around that stuff has changed up at the restaurant especially with the opening of Georges Greek village on canal road. From what i heard thru the grape vine it was the orginal owners split from joes and opened Georges or vice versa there something going on there then boom last year joes closed for a bit for updates seemed weird they opened up back around January. So ive been to Georges a bunch of times and loved it . So yesterday with my food review companion aka big rude herself my mom i was like greek food tonight? usually its Georges but then i remembered the whole thing with joe fetas so we decided to go thier instead !! onto the review !

So in casual milked fish fashion we went at peak time just after 7 fair amount of people open kitchen still the same as before still looked the same to me since last time i was in there over a year ago about . The restaurant was steady about 15 to 20 people in there great for a Monday hostess was polite and kind sat us server was there within seconds with menus and asked what we wanted to drink. Comes back and like i normally do i ask the server to order it all and act stupider then i look. She opts to order starter saganaki there staple flaming cheese . the cheese they used was kefalograviera which traditionally what they always use its a dry cheese a mix of goat and sheep milk salty similar to a hard mozzarella . The server brings over the sizzling cheese plate within 6 mins of ordering pours the shot in lights yells opa! and sets it down with some basic toasted bread .

looks good as hell its melted cheese with bread always a winning combo and ive had this dish before at this place a couple of years ago. So we dive in salty creamy warm then it stops which completely throws me off because its usually it was a sweet carmalized flavor after but not this time so boom change number one they didnt ouzo with is a fennel flavored drink which really pulls the whole dish together . So the server came back over ask how everything was i didnt lie it was good but not what i thought it was and i asked what they used to make it flame she said vodka which i was shocked by she went on to explain recently they changed the recipe because customers were complaining about the black liquorice taste which i just nodded and went back to eating .this dish could of been so much better if they used the ouzo thats just me judgmental i guess!!

One thing i gotta give them is the amount of food you get when you order the server ordered me the pork souvlaki which is a pork skewer marinated then grilled up so when you order that it comes with bread and salad

And in all honestly the salad is tremendous i could happily bathe in the dressing put a little in my hair after a long week. It mixs so well with the feta they use theres not enought i can say about it then you mop it all up with the bread after its simply amazing filling as can be but so worth it . It is truly one of the highlights of the meal i always look forward too !!!!! its also available for sale by the bottle i dont buy it simply because i would over do it with the sauce and ruin for myself !

So after the tremnedous salad and bread course we got our mains

These plates come loaded! the rice was outta control how good it was vegtables tock seasoned perfectly small diced tomatoes parsley onions all thru it . Lemon potatoes soft and cooked nicely could tell they sat for a bit tho just because the one was so dry pork was juicy not well done a little pink still which i am so down with overall this main was decently great one issue i did have tho the tzatziki wasnt the same rude jude pointed it out before i did it was defitanly made with sour cream and not greek yogurt which it has always been at this place and wasnt as flavorful as been which was a bit heart wrenching.

So all this being said i can say with the up most certainty it has changed for the better for the good im not exactly sure but i can say that i enjoyed Georges more the last time i had it but joes is still stellar in the next week or so im going to Georges and ordering the exact same dishes i did at joess and do a complete side by side review of both . But once again still solid as can be the staff were great we didnt wait long everything was solid and if you haven't been you simply arent living yet go check it out !!
