Well after a great debate of where to do my next food review we came to the conclusion moose and pepper in nigara falls a beautiful small cozy bistro on valley way near queen street . Just so happens my mom knows the owner so she didnt want them knowing she was coming and wanted to surprise them the night before i call and make a reservation under joey diaz . We arrive around 630 4 of us the hostess was sweet kind told us about the specials of the evening . They had a wonderful special for date night bottle of house red or white 2 apps 2 entrees and a dessert for 70 bucks tremendous. I drank the whole bottle...... open by jackson triggs . On to the review!!!
So after we are seated our server comes Andrew great server answered all our questions very insightful. So in milked fish tradition i inform him i cant make decisions for myself ill eat anything no allergies and if you cant tell by my side i like to eat with not even a hesitation hes says no problem threw me off usually i get the look like i have 3 heads . so has he goes punches in the order i walk around check the place out this place was spotless no marks on glasses everything was up to par and not in disrepair amazing. they brought out olive focaccia loaf with green oil and reduced balsamic it was great .
So the apps came out in under 12 mins my first course was garlic bread and cheese i know very basic but let me tell you wrong this was fucking amazing man a cheese blend on toasted focaccia soft yet crispy but the kicker was the dip oh my sweet tap dancing Jesus it was a toasted peppercorn parm creamy dip i literally cant say enough good about this dip i want a jar of it for beside my bed for those lonely nights it was that good and they wouldn't tell me the recipe naturally i knew i was going to have a amazing meal
So midway thru my garlic bread they brought out this soup looked different like a cream soup i was bit thrown off a basic cream soup but i was so wrong. The soup they had gave was called Avgolemono a traditional greek soup. holy shit was this ever stunning rich but not over powering with lemon chicken rice and egg
Hands down the best selection before the entree cleaned the plate just before the main my god if you take anything from anything i wrote ever get this soup if you ever see it i swear this would cure anything fucking tremendous
So not long after we got the entrees my mom got the veal parm with the rose sauce that was incredible as well my sister got the steak roulade normally its flank steak rolled with pickles mustard bacon onion and mustard. not this one this was rolled with pork and herbs topped with a dark demi glaze holy shit i would go back for this truth be told i was going to get one to go it was amazing . So my main was a seared duck breast with blueberry red wine reduction with garlic mash and vegetables .
This duck was perfect medium crispy on top the sauce was sweet but not to sweet seasoned perfectly couldn't get enough of it . now normally most places the veg and mash are just to fill the plate but not this the veg and corn are local cooked beautifully seasoned to perfection the mash was garlicky creamy rich amazing . such a amazing dish
Then we got dessert was outta this world but sadly my piece of junk phone didnt save the photos ps fuck i phones but anyways we got a chocolate mocha cheese cake amazing creamy not to sugary bomb! But the kicker was the pumpkin cake holy fuck this cake this cake it was light and fluffy amazing flavors a warm simple syrup with cardamon and vanilla this thing melted in your mouth i cant say enough good things about it i just wanted it inside of me hahaha
Overall this was amazing great little date spot its a spot you'll have to check out the price is up there but you do get yours moneys worth friendly kind staff it was hands down the best meal i have had in a long time go check it out and thank you for reading my review
