Theres alot of stupid things you can do in life specifically in a restaurant stick a fork in a outlet pour water into hot oil grab a hot pan several times over drink heavily the night before a open shift spending a half hour looking for canned steam in the stock room thinking you can pour hot water on that chicken breast to finish it. There is so many dumb things you can do while working i could go on and on with the stupid shit i have done let alone the shit ive seen over my many years in the industry as im sure you could as well its hilarious to talk about but in my personal option the worst idea you can actually act on is start dating someone you work with . I promise you we all have stories about either ourselves or someone you know that has a horror story about dating someone at work . Now im not saying all dont work well at least for 9 for 10 do not end well this isnt even being bias its just a general observation from myself and many others.
When you and younger in the industry you would always here about people talking like oh did you hear so and so hooked up the key word that me and several other missed that just hook up me being the hopeless romantic that i believe i am (90% percent of the time ). what are your thoughts?
Just like every single cook i have ever met when a new server or employee walks in its like a new ray of sunshine the most perfect example i can use is like that new kid in class . now speaking as a young male in his 20s i can literally speak for alot of us but when a attractive kitchen worker or front of house employee starts you see a swing in mood attitude and smell in the kitchen the disgusting conversations quite down a bit the next day a few of the guys will have a new haircut the smelly prep guy has deodorant and cologne on instead of mean mugs and dirty looks its all smiles and happy looks just waiting for that opportunity for any type interaction a quick glance a quick convo anything ! now normally its usually the loudest guy on the line because they stick out like a sore thumb . Listen majority of the time it never gets anywhere and the nuance of them fades after a few shifts but the thought of sleeping with them usually sticks around the "you know what i would do to that" and etc casually coming from the 40 year old guy who has has 2 ex wives and hasnt been on a date in 7 months with giant calluses on both hands from being alone . So one night comes alone everyone goes for drinks then the new employee hit it off real well go on a couple dates these things happen faster then you think because you think to yourself your dating the new girl in class i swear to you once everyone finds out you will hear dont date at work it will blow up in your face really think about it for the day when it comes and it will you will mercifully be harassed by everyone even when your boss gets in on it the best advice dont do it i cant speak to it i have done it many times and still haven t learned my lesson im not all that smart tho. keep a hook up and hook up and dont shit where you eat.
