Well its been quite a while since i have blogged did a review a podcast to be honest I dumped all my time into writing jokes for my stand up lost my inspiration probably a whole whack of things anyways were back slinging dick taking names keep those heads up for a whole shit load of new content coming new podcasts joining the milked fish network gonna take this fucker to new weird places so yeah watch out !!! any who enough of me gushing over myself and what will be lets get into this review.
Taco Embassy! Taco fucking Embassy! for warning this is not a paid ad i was actually this fucking happy with literally everything at this spot lost for words and normally i can pick apart every last thing because i'm an necrotic asshole but not this time news years resolution don't be such a miserable asshole .
So Wednesday afternoon got word of a new Mexican place downtown thought to myself fuck it great idea! food review new place so we go in this place is massive its like an old house beautiful big gorgeous bar friendly faces of the staff saying good afternoon thank you for coming the walls inside were beautifully painted with murals of Mexican history wrestling it was quite the site to see but yet still amazing. We sit young man came up told us the specials told us about the drinks they had he suggested the tamarind margarita. Let me tell you i have had my variety of drinks over the years this was out of this world fuck me it was incredible sweet bitter salty i had 3 it was just amazing only words i have for it it worked so well on so many levels here it is below
So in keeping my reviews unbiased in milked fish fashion i hand the menu to the server and tell them to order me anything the server says no problem not even a second thought minus asking about allergies so the wait wasn't long for our apps .
The picture speaks for itself the boy came out the gate with fire holy fuck let me start he drops this massive two handed plate down and simply states this Mexican poutine and breaks down this piece of art. Let me tell you something every worry i had before in my life prior this plate was dropped down was immediately ripped away like a purse at the sketchy bus terminal a few doors down by an unsavory character. The room got brighter it was tremendous.
Anyways these were Carne asada steak fries topped with guacamole mixed cheese sour cream pico de gallo and queso cheese this was such a blend of love tender meat cheese and guac the fries were crisp and golden the carne asada steak was cooked to perfection. The layering was perfect the whole plate must of been 8 pounds there was nothing left . So if this was any indication of what was coming ahead i was rock hard and ready to go.
So after that beautiful display of culinary skill told the server and cook in excitement that the dish was fucking tremendous fuck regular poutine compared to that ill come back just for that i would make a video of me and that plate going it on just like in american pie i don't think they understood reference of someone making love to food .
So next course the picture isn't much to look at but hear me out table side service this man brought out sopa azteca put the bowl down with tortilla chips avocado queso fresco pork rinds and sour cream pulls out a coffee urn pours out a heavenly scented broth of tomato and chicken stock just let me tell you this shits on your moms tomato soup a intoxicating blend of heat heartiness of chicken broth a touch of refreshing lime and creaminess from the sour cream cheese and the right amount of salt from the beautifully seasoned broth and pork rinds oh and you cant go wrong with slices of avocado.
After those first 2 dishes i was happy to pay and slush my satisfied fat ass to a near by car light 2 smokes and slip ever so slowly into a sleep a deep one similar to a animal hibernating but we still had more coming .
The finale came out i was expecting a light finish tacos maybe a fish dish nope they came out heavy with this old world special pozole soup el Cerrito
This dish is an old as time taking different forms since the days of the Aztecs this masterpiece contains pozole corn (white corn) shredded pork shoulder radish lettuce in a aromatic broth with sides hot chilles lime onions and oregano .
When i first got this i'm like oh great another soup nope i was wrong this was a a old style stew you just don't see food at this quality love and passion in food anymore and it was moving even at a point you knew this came down from generations to generation thru the ages then to my plate in a restaurant if you were sick this is what you should take feeling down on life eat this i don't have the vocabulary to begin to talk about the perfect balance of every ounce of this dish go eat it enjoy it and let it take you back to an older simpler world .yeah that good deep right
The bill wasnt bad either for what we got amazing the whole family was working there so you know we got the goods they were having kitchen dinner as we were leaving thanked everyone it is a truly amazing place that you should go and try its warm and home like this has to go up with some of the best atmosphere and restaurants i've had the pleasure of dining at i look forward to go back and so should everyone reading this !!!
